Stockholm, Sweden, 12-07-02WMS GAMING AND 888 HOLDINGS FORM STRATEGIC ALLIANCE TO PROVIDE ONLINE POKER SOLUTIONS FOR U.S. CASINO OPERATORS
WMS Expands Online Gaming Presence with Agreement to Market and Distribute to Domestic Casino Customers 888’s Online Poker Platform for Optimal Player Liquidity Along with WMS’ Capabilities for a Comprehensive Integrated Online Casino
London and Waukegan, Illinois – July 2, 2012 -- WMS Gaming Inc., a global leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of games, gaming content and gaming machines and subsidiary of WMS Industries Inc. (NYSE:WMS), today announced the formation of a strategic alliance with Dragonfish, the independent B2B (Business–to-Business) division of 888 Holdings plc (LSE:888), that expands the WMS B2B online product offering in the United States with one of the world’s leading online poker solutions, including play-for-fun applications. Pursuant to the new alliance, WMS will market and distribute 888’s world-class online poker solution to land-based casino customers in legal venues in the United States, initially with a play-for-fun offering. As real money online poker becomes regulated on a state-by-state or federal basis, the agreement enables the immediate launch of a real money offering as regulations are finalized and upon licensing by appropriate gaming authorities. By combining forces to address the domestic online poker market, WMS and 888 will provide a complete end-to-end solution allowing land-based casino operators to leverage and aggregate their respective customer databases, thereby building the large-scale pool of players to deliver optimal player engagement and enjoyment.
Through the agreement WMS will offer domestic customers access to 888’s robust poker platform and applications, which feature a comprehensive suite of capabilities, including back office functionality and associated administrative, transaction, compliance, operational and other related support services. WMS will serve as the exclusive provider of 888’s online poker solution to casino operators in the United States, with certain limited contractual exceptions. In addition, the agreement facilitates the creation of an interoperable platform that will enable an integrated experience between 888’s online poker solutions and WMS’ online casino solutions incorporating WMS gaming content and capabilities, providing for play-for-fun applications and appropriate wagering solutions.
Earlier this year, both 888 and WMS submitted applications to Nevada’s State Gaming Control Board for interactive gaming licenses in the State of Nevada.
Orrin J. Edidin, President of WMS, commented, “Aligning our efforts with 888 Holdings will allow WMS to provide our casino operator customers with the capabilities and benefits from one of the world’s most experienced online poker operators which will significantly support their efforts to benefit from online poker in the United States in a play-for-fun environment or as real money online poker becomes legal. Our customers will gain access to a network enabling them to effectively build brand awareness, provide superior player liquidity needed for great player experiences and have complete comfort in the security and effectiveness of the technology platform. Additionally, by incorporating these solutions with our Player’s Life® Web Services capabilities that provide a unique link that extends the gaming experience beyond the four walls of the casino, we expect to provide a wide array of play-for-fun online applications that customers can offer their players via their websites, as well as to introduce to entirely new audiences, the opportunity to play for fun.”
Brian Mattingley, CEO of 888 Holdings, commented, “WMS is one of the main gaming suppliers in America, with a network of relationships with land-based operators that is second to none. The combination of 888’s cutting edge online poker platform and WMS’ customer relationships, marketing and distribution capabilities, provides the opportunity to build a substantial online presence.
“By deploying our joint online poker solution, casino operators in the United States will be able to provide their customers with a robust and secure network with the liquidity and games offering to give the best possible player experience."
Mr. Edidin added, “For more than half a century, WMS has been a leading consumer-focused game content developer across a wide variety of distribution channels. As we grow our interactive and online gaming business and develop new and innovative solutions to meet customer needs, we are combining WMS’ proven gaming content and experience with best-in-class capabilities to expand our portfolio so that we can provide our customers with the optimal online gaming experiences – whether for online wagering or interactive play-for-fun social, casual and mobile gaming – that allow them to optimize their benefit from new channels of connections with their customers. Our alliance with 888 is another exciting step that furthers our capabilities as we build a comprehensive suite of gaming solutions to enable our customers to stay connected to their players, wherever and whenever players find it most convenient to seek out gaming entertainment today and in the future.”
